Self Management – Self Development
Self-Development or Self-Management is a relatively recent tool in counseling here at Revival. Self-Management refers to the methods and skills which individuals can use to effectively direct their own activities towards the achievement of objectives. The basic idea or self-management is that the change can be brought about by teaching people to use coping skills in problem situations. Clients are encouraged to accept responsibility for carrying out assignments in daily life. In Self-Management programs people make decisions about specific behaviors they want to control or change. Some common examples include smoking, drinking and drugs. People frequently discover that a major reason that they do not attain their goals is the lack of certain skills. A self-directed approach can provide the guidelines for change and a plan that will lead to change.
